1. Who we are
PetOS is operated by [legal entity name and address: set PETOS_LEGAL_ENTITY and PETOS_LEGAL_ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). PetOS turns photos of your cat or dog into an animated 3D companion that lives on your Mac desktop. These terms apply when you use our website or the PetOS Mac app, or buy a pet.
2. Making a pet
- Only upload photos you took or have permission to use.
- Photos should be of a cat or dog. We may decline anything else, or anything unlawful or abusive.
- Your photos are analysed by software to work out your pet's look. How that works, and how long photos are kept, is in the Privacy Policy.
- Your pet is a stylised interpretation, not an exact likeness. You can adjust it afterwards.
- You can also adopt one of our ready-made shelter pets instead of uploading photos.
- To keep PetOS fair and affordable we limit how many pets one person can make for free in a short time.
3. Free trial
- Each Mac gets one free 3-day trial. It starts the first time a pet is activated in the Mac app on that Mac, and every pet you bring to that Mac during those three days shares it.
- No card is needed for the trial and nothing is charged automatically when it ends.
- When the trial ends without a purchase, pets you haven't bought stop appearing on your desktop. We keep their settings so you can buy them later.
4. Price and payment
- Every pet costs $14.99, once. There is no subscription. Taxes may be added at checkout where the law requires.
- You can buy a pet at any time, including before or during the trial.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your pet becomes yours as soon as Stripe confirms the payment.
5. Your licence
When you buy a pet, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that pet in PetOS on Macs you own or control, for as long as PetOS is available. You may share pictures and videos of your pet, including on social media.
6. What you may not do
Don't reverse engineer, resell or redistribute PetOS or its models and animations, try to get around the trial or payment, overload or attack the service, or use PetOS to break the law.
7. Refunds
See our Refund policy. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
8. Deleting your pet
You can delete a pet and its photos at any time from the pet's page. Deleting is permanent and is not a refund request. A pet you have paid for is only deleted after you type its name.
9. Availability and liability
We work hard to keep PetOS running and improving, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll say so on this page before it applies.
